Department Sponsors French Language Play
On October 15, 2018, French actors Pascal Germain and André Nerman came to perform a theater play adapted from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Terre des hommes, also known in English as Wind, Sand and Stars. This book was published in February 1939 and received the Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française. It was also recognized by the American Booksellers Association.
André Nerman himself turned this memoir into a play that presents a dialogue between Saint-Exupéry and the characters he encounters during his epic voyage with, of course, an emphasis on his wandering time in the desert of Libya. The play was produced by the Compagnie Caravague, founded by
André Nerman, who already came to PC to interpret Eugène Ionesco’s La Leçon and Jean-Paul Sartre’s Huis clos a few years ago. This event was sponsored by the Department of Foreign Language Studies, the French Alliance of Providence, and the Center for Global Education.
